About

About our foodbank

Here is an introduction to our project.

Our foodbank is an initiative of Light and Life Church, St Austell in partnership with the Trussell Trust. We are supported by numerous churches, schools, groups, and individuals who donate their time and energy to support us. The majority of our team are volunteers who passionately support our foodbanks in St Austell, Roche and St Stephen.

Most of our food is donated by local individuals, churches, organisations, and businesses. We collect regularly from local supermarkets, and have donation points in Tesco, Asda, and a number of Co-Ops. You can see what we currently need here.

In addition to food parcels, we are passionate about a cash first approach and we share the Cornwall Worrying About Money signposting leaflet with every person that accesses St Austell Foodbank, thereby empowering them to access the appropriate support and advice according to their individual needs Cornwall – Worried about Money? (worryingaboutmoney.co.uk)

We work with over 100 local referral agencies who refer people to us in times of crisis.

2020 saw us celebrate our 10th Birthday! You can watch our special celebratory service here:
